Dr. Hillary Fitzsimmons, Limited Licensed Psychologist at Cypress Counseling Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan will take you on a journey to entering and understanding the world of children who have experienced trauma. There will be a focus on creating an understanding of how trauma impacts the social, emotional, and neuropsychological wellbeing of children and adolescents. More specifically, participants should expect a captivating discussion with case examples about how trauma impacts the brain, as well as how children’s view of themselves, others, and the world are impacted by trauma. This presentation will then explain how to utilize this understanding of trauma to inform treatment, develop interventions, make sense of confusing behavior, and improve relationships with youth. Participants can expect to walk away with powerful tools to better support children impacted by trauma.
