Volunteer Opportunities

WACC is always looking for volunteers. Whether you have a day, a week, one day every week, or want to help every day, we can use your help. As an agency that operates on less than $75,000 each year, we rely on volunteers to keep our agency running smoothly. We currently are looking for people to help us in the positions listed below. If you have other skills and would like to get involved, please contact us!

GREAT GROUP OR SERVICE CLUB OPPORTUNITIES!

Friends of Washtenaw Area Council for Children
Friends have the opportunity to assist the staff at program events, fund raising events,
presentation and recognition events. A great opportunity for service groups, to help the Council with a special event or special project.

Washtenaw County Resource Packet Ambassadors
Ambassadors will present parents of soon-to-be born newborns at local hospitals about resources, information and programs in Washtenaw County.

Washtenaw County Resource Packet Packers

As we reach out to over 300 new parents in Washtenaw County, we need our Washtenaw County Resource Packets packed!  This is a great group volunteer activity that can be done off-site.

OPPORTUNITIES TO WORK WITH THE COMMUNITY

Safe Sleep for Infants Coalition Members

After a very successful Safe Sleep Kick Off in March 2006, community members are needed to strategize the next step to educating professionals, caregivers and parents in Washtenaw County.

Shaken Baby Syndrome Presenters

Presenters have the opportunity to work with children, teens and adults to prevent child abuse and neglect.  Presenters may select 1-4 options in various community sites.  As a Shaken Baby Syndrome Presenter volunteers can directly work with teens, before they become parents.

WISSH (Washtenaw Infants Sleep Safely Here) Presenters

We have made a commitment to reach out to area churches, community and professional groups to teach Safe Sleep for Infants.  We need your help.  You must enjoy presenting to groups, who want be part of county wide movement to keep babies safe.

Administrative Aides

With a variety of programs, presentations and meetings, we need help to keep it all organized and scheduled.  Additional help is needed to collate evaluation reports from the events.  This is a great opportunity for volunteers needing flexibility.

Painter. Our office has a few walls that would benefit from some painting and spackling. We'll supply the paint and materials if you're willing to supply the labor.

Volunteers are required to submit an application, names of three references and an
authorization for a Background check. An orientation and training are required for all
positions. If you have other skills and would like to get involved, please contact Joan
